Augustin Flory Joins Results for Development as New Nutrition Lead

March 6, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. — March 6, 2017 —  Results for Development (R4D) today announced that Augustin Flory has joined the organization as managing director of nutrition.

Prior to R4D, Augustin was the executive director of nutrition for the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF); in this role, he was responsible for developing and leading the Foundation strategy to address undernutrition. From 2013 to 2016, he oversaw CIFF’s leading role in convening the first Nutrition for Growth summit in London in 2013; the creation of the Power of Nutrition, a new innovative financing fund for nutrition; the development of the first-ever global investment framework to meet the global nutrition targets set by the World Health Assembly (WHA); and the development of No Wasted Lives, a global coalition to tackle severe acute malnutrition. Augustin also co-chaired the Stakeholder Group of the Global Nutrition Report in 2015 and 2016.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Augustin — a recognized nutrition leader with more than 20 years of experience — who has spearheaded some of the most innovative and influential recent developments in the nutrition landscape,” said Gina Lagomarsino, R4D’s president and CEO. “At Results for Development, we want people in low- and middle-income countries to thrive and reach their full potential. And we know that’s not possible without a foundation of good nutrition during the critical first 1,000 day period. Our nutrition team has been doing remarkable work, and I’m confident Augustin will continue to grow this portfolio and help our partners meet global nutrition targets over the coming years.”

Before CIFF, Augustin held various positions at the African Development Bank spanning legal, resource mobilization and country operations between 2004 and 2010. Augustin started his career as an attorney in private practice working on project finance and foreign investments in China, the Middle East and Africa.

“After partnering with Results for Development for more than three years, I am honored to join the R4D team to grow their nutrition practice,” said Augustin Flory. “R4D’s unique experience in delivering change in the health and education sectors, combined with its analytical rigor and its strong country focus and relationships, make it an ideal partner to pioneer high impact and long lasting solutions for nutrition. This is a critical time for the global nutrition community that requires fresh thinking and diverse skillsets, and R4D offers both.”

Augustin holds a bachelor’s in law from King’s College London, a master’s in law from Paris 1 University and a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University.
